The Council's road works notices for 26 October to 1 November include one job right on our doorstep: water mains upgrade works on the R750 in Wicklow Town, starting Tuesday 27 October and expected to take about two days. Traffic management will be in place from 08:00 to 17:00 while the works are on.
The notice doesn't say which stretch of the R750 is affected, so expect some delays on the way into or through town during the day on Tuesday and Wednesday, and look out for signs.
M11 southbound night closures still running
The overnight resurfacing on the M11 southbound continues, 21:00 to 06:00, Monday to Friday nights, until Friday 13 November. This week's notice lists both phases of the programme without saying which one is active this week:
- Phase 1: Junction 13 to Junction 16 (Rathnew / Wicklow Town), diverted via the R761 through Ashford
- Phase 2: Junction 16 to Junction 18 (Wicklow South / Redcross), diverted along the R772
Junctions along the closed stretch can be shut at night too, and local access is kept where needed. Our earlier article has the step-by-step Phase 2 diversion.
Further afield
- R772 at Killadreenan, Newtownmountkennedy: a new signalised pedestrian crossing is being built, with traffic management 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, for about 6 to 8 weeks from 21 October.
- Enniskerry: town renewal works with occasional stop/go, running until about the end of November.
What this means for you
- Driving into or through town on Tuesday or Wednesday daytime: allow a few extra minutes for the R750 works.
- Coming home from Dublin, or heading south, after 9pm on a weeknight: expect a motorway diversion and follow the signs.
- Using the R772 through Newtownmountkennedy on weekdays: expect some delays at Killadreenan.
